Valle Vista, CA — A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent stabbing that occurred Thursday along Highway 74 in the unincorporated community of Valle Vista, just east of Hemet.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Roman Neely, a resident of Hemet, was taken into custody following an altercation with an acquaintance that turned violent. Authorities allege that Neely stabbed the victim during a dispute that escalated near the highway.
Deputies responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of a disturbance and found one individual suffering from stab wounds. The victim’s current condition has not been made public.
Following an investigation, Neely was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. He is being held on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $1 million.
The motive behind the incident remains under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hemet Station.
Neely is expected to appear in court for arraignment in the coming days.
