LOS ANGELES, CA — A 62-year-old man was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run collision in South Los Angeles, prompting an urgent search by police for the driver responsible.
The victim, identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as Danny Estis, was struck around 9:15 p.m. while crossing Western Avenue near 83rd Street, outside of a marked crosswalk.
According to investigators, a **light-colored SUV—possibly white—**was traveling northbound on Western Avenue when it struck Estis and fled the scene without stopping. The vehicle was last seen continuing northbound.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Estis was pronounced dead at the scene.
