MOTHER FATALLY SHOT BY 2-YEAR-OLD SON WITH UNSECURED GUN
Fresno, California – A devastating incident occurred on Friday, December 6, when a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his mother, Mina, with an unsecured gun.
According to authorities, the toddler found the loaded 9mm handgun in his mother’s bedroom and pulled the trigger, striking Mina with a single gunshot wound to her upper body.
Mina’s 18-year-old boyfriend, Andrew Sanchez, was arrested and charged with felony negligent storage of a firearm and felony child endangerment.
Sanchez allegedly left the loaded handgun in a location accessible to children.
Sanchez was booked into Fresno County Jail but was no longer listed as an inmate as of Wednesday, December 11. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
Detectives are working to determine the registered owner of the firearm. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched in Mina’s honor.
