A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Stuhr’s Funeral Home, located at 32 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401. The visitation offers an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to gather and reflect on Gedney’s life, as well as to offer condolences and share stories. Gedney’s family encourages attendees to bring their cherished memories of Gedney, a man whose presence was always uplifting and whose impact on those around him was immeasurable.
The following day, Friday, March 28, 2025, a service celebrating Gedney’s life will be held at 2nd Presbyterian Church at 11 am. The church, located at 342 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403, will serve as the venue for those who wish to come together in a spirit of reverence and gratitude for Gedney’s time with us. The service will include reflections on his life, his contributions to the community, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. It will be a meaningful occasion, allowing loved ones to honor the memories and experiences they shared with Gedney.
After the service, a private burial will take place, providing the family with an intimate moment of closure. In keeping with Gedney’s wishes, the family has requested privacy during this part of the proceedings.
Following the service, all attendees are invited to a reception at The Rice Mill, located at 17 Lockwood Drive, Unit 101, Charleston, SC 29401, beginning at 12:30 pm. This reception will provide a space for those who attended the service to come together in celebration of Gedney’s life. It will be an opportunity to share more stories, reflect on the good times spent with him, and continue the spirit of camaraderie and connection that Gedney fostered throughout his life. Guests are encouraged to bring their best Big Gedney stories as a way of keeping his memory alive through laughter, reminiscence, and joy.
