Double Homicide Investigation Underway in Brighton After Two Men Fatally Shot
Brighton, AL – A devastating shooting incident occurred on Friday afternoon near the Brighton Community Center, claiming the lives of two men. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has launched an active investigation into the double homicide.
Deputies responded to the scene at 3810 7th Avenue in Brighton shortly after 2:00 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
One of the victims has been identified as D’Angelo La’Marcus Samuel, while the identity of the second victim has not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing, with crime scene tape surrounding the area near Letson Street and Edwards Street. A significant law enforcement presence is on the scene, including vehicles from the Bessemer Police Department.
According to investigators, the two men are not believed to have shot one another. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred during a repast at the Brighton Community Center. However, it is unclear if the shooting was directly related to the gathering.
