Manhunt Underway for Scott Mason, Suspect in Shooting of St. Johnsbury Police Officer
Vermont State Police are actively searching for 38-year-old Scott Mason, accused of shooting and injuring Captain Jason Gray of the St. Johnsbury Police Department. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon during a response to a reported domestic violence incident at Mason’s residence.
Mason is considered armed and dangerous, and members of the public are strongly advised not to approach him. Instead, they should call 911 immediately if they see him or have any information on his whereabouts.
Captain Gray, the victim, is in stable condition but remains under treatment at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, after being airlifted for care.
The Vermont State Police are urging the public to assist in locating Mason, who is described as 5’11” with brown hair, hazel eyes, and approximately 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and pants and resides in a second-floor apartment at 261 Portland Street, St. Johnsbury.
