Ryan was reportedly involved in a police shooting on May 1, 2025, during a pursuit related to a stolen vehicle in East Price Hill. According to Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge, the incident occurred when officers approached a stolen Kia SUV and four individuals fled on foot. One of the suspects, later identified as Hinton, allegedly pointed a handgun at officers, prompting an officer to discharge their weapon. Hinton was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm with an extended magazine was recovered near his location, and another was found inside the stolen vehicle. Two other suspects were arrested, while one remains at large. The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
The following day, on May 2, 2025, a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic near the University of Cincinnati. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr., who is reported to be the father of Ryan Hinton. Rodney Hinton Jr. was arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with the deputy’s death.
