It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carly Prusky on March 18, 2025, in North York, Ontario. Carly was a cherished member of her family and a respected educator at the University of Toronto at Mississauga.
Born and raised in Toronto, Carly was the beloved daughter of Lawrence and Melody Prusky. She shared a close bond with her siblings, Jenn (Mike Gallay) and Sean (Tera Van Houten). Her nieces and nephews, Mila, Ari, and Lily, held a special place in her heart, and she was a loving aunt who took immense pride in their accomplishments. Her extended family, including uncles Danny Prusky and Mark Sager, and aunt Susan Sager, remember her fondly for her warmth and kindness.
Carly’s passion for education led her to a distinguished career in academia. As a professor in the Humanities department at the University of Toronto at Mississauga, she was known for her dedication to her students and her commitment to fostering a love for learning. Her colleagues and students admired her for her engaging lectures and her ability to make complex subjects accessible. Many students expressed their appreciation for her caring nature and the supportive environment she cultivated in her classroom.
Beyond her professional achievements, Carly was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of various local organizations and contributed her time to causes close to her heart. Her generosity and willingness to help others left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor Carly’s life is scheduled for Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2:30 PM, at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel. Family, friends, colleagues, and students are invited to attend and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Jewish Family and Child Services, an organization Carly supported and believed in.
