MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH — June 28, 2025 — The Miami Township community is mourning the loss of Christopher McGrath, a 44-year-old Milford resident, who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on State Route 28 near Business 28, according to the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP).
Authorities say McGrath was traveling southwest on a 1998 Honda Superhawk 996 when he failed to navigate a curve, causing the motorcycle to overturn and slide across the roadway. Though McGrath was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency personnel from Miami Township Fire and EMS, Miami Township Police, Milford Police Department, and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office assisted the OSP in investigating and securing the scene.
A Community in Mourning
Known for his warm personality, adventurous soul, and passion for motorcycling, Christopher McGrath was a cherished figure among friends, family, and fellow riders. He was remembered as someone who radiated joy, kindness, and loyalty—a man whose laughter could brighten any day.
“Chris had a genuine heart. He lived life fully and cared deeply for the people around him,” said a friend. “His loss leaves a hole that will never be filled.”
McGrath’s passing has especially shaken local motorcycling groups who viewed him not just as a fellow rider, but as a brother on the road. Many are planning a memorial ride in his honor to pay tribute to the life he lived and the spirit he shared with his riding community.
Crash Investigation Ongoing
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. Preliminary findings suggest road curvature may have played a role, but investigators are looking into other contributing factors such as speed, visibility, road conditions, or mechanical failure.
The crash site, located along a notoriously winding section of SR-28, poses known risks—especially in the early morning hours when lighting is poor.
“We encourage all motorcyclists and motorists to use extreme caution, particularly on rural roads at night,” said an OSP spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to Mr. McGrath’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Batavia Post of the OSP.
A Lasting Legacy
A growing memorial near the crash site—featuring flowers, candles, photos, and messages—stands as a testament to the lives McGrath touched. Community members have visited throughout the day to pay their respects, share memories, and reflect on a life lived with vibrancy and heart.
As loved ones prepare to say their final goodbyes, the legacy of Christopher McGrath continues to shine through the people he inspired. His story is now a solemn reminder of the importance of road safety and the fragile nature of life—especially for those who find freedom on two wheels.
Rest in peace, Christopher McGrath. May the road rise to meet you on your final ride.
