The indictment includes two counts of felonious assault, one count of having weapons under disability, and one count of tampering with evidence, prosecutors confirmed Friday.

A Disturbing Chain of Events
The violent incident unfolded inside Cox’s home on Lodell Avenue during what authorities describe as a volatile domestic dispute. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Cox allegedly shot a woman while she was curled up on a bed. The bullet pierced her thigh and traveled upward into her abdominal area, causing life-threatening injuries.

Following the shooting, Cox reportedly told the woman he intended to take his own life. In a moment of panic, she called 911—but in an effort to calm him and avoid further violence, she falsely claimed that she had accidentally shot herself.

Chaotic Aftermath
Eyewitness reports and investigative documents reveal a tense and chaotic scene. Cox is said to have carried the injured woman to the front porch before fleeing the residence by jumping from a side window. He then doused himself in gasoline and threatened to harm himself.

Montgomery County deputies responded rapidly to the emergency call, locating both Cox and the victim. Authorities were able to take Cox into custody without further violence and recovered a firearm from the property.

Victim Fighting for Life
The unnamed victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition, according to the latest medical reports. Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, her identity has not been released.

Domestic Violence Under Scrutiny
This case has cast a spotlight on the escalating crisis of domestic violence and the urgent need for protective resources and timely intervention. Advocates stress that survivors often struggle to seek help due to fear, manipulation, or emotional trauma.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the danger that so many victims live with every day,” said a spokesperson for a local domestic violence shelter. “We urge anyone experiencing abuse to seek help before it’s too late.”

Legal Proceedings Ahead
Cox will be arraigned in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in the coming days. Prosecutors plan to pursue the charges vigorously, citing the serious nature of the violence and the ongoing risk to the community.
