LOS ANGELES, CA — A dramatic rescue unfolded Saturday morning in downtown Los Angeles as firefighters extricated a person trapped in the window of a fourth-floor apartment during a fire in the city’s Skid Row area, authorities said.
Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched at 9:31 a.m. to a five-story structure located at 634 S. San Julian Street, just one block west of San Pedro Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered active flames and smoke, and found an individual standing in a window on the fourth floor, unable to escape the burning unit. Fire personnel quickly executed a rescue operation to safely remove the person from the window.
Paramedics evaluated the rescued occupant at the scene for potential injuries. The individual’s condition has not yet been released.
Cause Under Investigation
LAFD officials confirmed that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no other injuries have been reported as of Saturday afternoon.
The fire prompted a significant emergency response due to the building’s location in a densely populated area and the potential for rapid fire spread in multi-story structures. Fire crews remained on scene to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and to assess the damage.
Authorities have not released the name of the person rescued.
