SOCORRO, TX — A devastating early morning crash has claimed the life of 32-year-old Filbert Candelaria, a motorcyclist whose sudden passing has left the Socorro community mourning and authorities searching for answers.

The fatal collision occurred around 1:25 a.m. Saturday in the 11100 block of Socorro Road, a well-traveled stretch known for both residential and commercial traffic. Officers with the Socorro Police Department responded swiftly to reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a Nissan passenger vehicle.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Candelaria was riding eastbound on Socorro Road when his motorcycle collided with the Nissan. The impact was significant, and although emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures, Candelaria was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Nissan were reportedly unharmed and remained at the scene.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances of the crash, with potential factors such as speed, visibility, right-of-way violations, and mechanical failure under review. No citations or charges have been announced as of yet.
