Hartford City, IN — A tragic shooting in Hartford City early Sunday morning has claimed the life of 34-year-old Michael Norris, leaving a tight-knit community in shock and mourning.
Authorities say emergency responders were dispatched just after 2:00 a.m. on June 29 to a residence on South Blackford County Road 500 East following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, first responders found Norris inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Blackford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the home was occupied at the time of the incident. While the investigation remains active, officials have not disclosed details about potential suspects or whether any arrests have been made. They did state that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
