LOS ANGELES, CA — A man in his 70s was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night while crossing a South Los Angeles intersection in a marked crosswalk, authorities confirmed Saturday.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and 90th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators say a small, four-door sedan traveling northbound on Vermont Avenue struck the man while he was walking in the crosswalk. The vehicle did not stop and was last seen continuing northbound.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin.

LAPD is urging anyone with information about the suspect vehicle or driver to come forward. Witnesses, nearby businesses with surveillance footage, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle before or after the incident are encouraged to assist.
