Authorities are investigating a shooting that left four people injured during a trail ride event in Natchitoches Parish on the evening of March 22.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO), deputies responded to multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 7:47 p.m. at an event off Catholic Lane in Clarence, Louisiana. When law enforcement arrived, they encountered heavy traffic and a crowd of more than 1,000 attendees.

Victims and Medical Response
Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds:

A 22-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A 16-year-old boy was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Another 16-year-old male was transported to a regional trauma center. His condition remains unknown.
A 20-year-old man was also airlifted to a trauma center, with his condition currently undisclosed.
Emergency medical units from Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and Air EVAC Life Team helicopters were deployed to transport the wounded.

Investigation Underway
The NPSO and Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations have launched a joint investigation into the shooting. Authorities believe the suspect fled the area before deputies arrived.

Forensic teams worked for more than three hours, using special lighting equipment provided by Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 to document and process the crime scene.

Officials noted that a private security team was responsible for overseeing the event, and NPSO had not been provided prior details about the gathering.
