GREEN LAKE, WI — The City of Green Lake is enveloped in sorrow following the tragic death of 12-year-old Emmet Zodrow, who lost his life in a bicycle accident on the grounds of the Castecker Library on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Emmet, described by those who knew him as a bright and kind-hearted boy, had a passion for life that touched many. Known for his infectious smile, warm spirit, and generosity, he was a cherished member of the community whose loss has left a profound void.
A lover of baseball, biking, and books, Emmet enjoyed spending time outdoors with friends and family. His special bond with his younger sister Elliat was evident to all who saw them together, as they shared countless moments of joy and mischief. Emmet also delighted in painting and hiding rocks around town, spreading happiness through these small, thoughtful acts.
Neighbors recall Emmet’s sparkling blue eyes and wise, gentle nature. “He was wise beyond his years but never lost his childlike wonder,” said one community member. “His presence made our community better.”
In response to the tragedy, the Green Lake community has rallied around Emmet’s family with love and support. A memorial has grown outside the library—adorned with flowers, baseball gloves, painted rocks, and heartfelt messages honoring his memory.
Plans are being made for a celebration of life ceremony where friends, family, classmates, and neighbors will come together to remember Emmet’s joyful spirit and the lasting impact he made in his young life.
Emmet’s family encourages the community to honor his memory by continuing the simple acts he loved—painting rocks, reading books, riding bikes, and expressing love to those around them.
Though his time was brief, Emmet Zodrow’s light and kindness will forever shine in the heart of Green Lake.
Rest in peace, Emmet. Your spirit will never be forgotten.
