Holton, KS – April 30, 2025 – The community of Holton is mourning the loss of Lane Pruett, a beloved figure known for her boundless kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others. Lane, who passed away at the age of 72, leaves behind a legacy that has touched the lives of many in this small Kansas town.
Lane’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to others. Whether through her volunteer work at the local food pantry, her involvement in various community initiatives, or her constant support for friends and family, Lane’s heart was always focused on making the world a better place.
“She was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome,” said longtime friend Marissa Jacobs. “No matter what you were going through, Lane always had a kind word or a listening ear. She was truly a bright light in our community.”
Lane was also known for her work with local youth, mentoring and guiding young people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Her legacy of compassion extended to every corner of Holton, where she touched the lives of neighbors, students, and even strangers who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family members remember Lane as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. “She was everything to us,” said her son, Kevin Pruett. “She always put others first, and her ability to care for everyone around her is something we will always admire. We are so proud to have had her as our mother and grandmother.”
Lane’s passing has left a deep void in the community, but her influence will continue to resonate. As Holton comes together to honor her memory, many are reflecting on the lessons she taught about kindness, selflessness, and the power of community.
A memorial service will be held at the Holton Community Center on May 4, 2025, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Lane’s life and the impact she made. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Holton Food Pantry, a cause Lane was passionate about throughout her life.
Lane Pruett’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of kindness will continue to inspire future generations in Holton and beyond.
