
St. Petersburg police have arrested Ja’quavius Corde Daniels, 22, in connection with a deadly home invasion that occurred on April 16 in the Disston Heights neighborhood. Daniels faces a felony murder charge after the homeowner fatally shot one of the two intruders.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, two men entered a residence in the 3400 block of 40th Street North around 2 a.m. The homeowner fired shots, striking Marcel James Williams, 20, who later died at the hospital. Daniels fled the scene but turned himself in to authorities on Thursday night. He is currently being held at the Pinellas County Jail .
The homeowner’s identity has not been released, and police have not disclosed whether he will face any charges. Under Florida law, a person can be charged with murder if another person dies during the commission of certain crimes, such as a home invasion robbery, even if they did not directly cause the death .
