SPRINGFIELD, OH — A heartbreaking mass shooting late Saturday night has left one woman dead and several others wounded in Springfield, Ohio, prompting a multi-agency investigation and an outpouring of grief from a shaken community.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 10:46 p.m. on June 28, 2025, following reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of West Rose Street, according to a press release from the City of Springfield. Upon arrival, officers discovered a chaotic and tragic scene with multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, including some with life-threatening injuries.

Keantra Mays was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Family and friends describe her as a vibrant, loving individual whose presence brought light to those around her. Her untimely death has left the community devastated.
In total, at least five people were shot during the incident. Two of the most severely injured victims were airlifted via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, while others were rushed to Springfield Regional Medical Center and Kettering Health Springfield either by ambulance or private transportation.
