SPRINGFIELD, OH — A heartbreaking mass shooting late Saturday night has left one woman dead and several others wounded in Springfield, Ohio, prompting a multi-agency investigation and an outpouring of grief from a shaken community.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 10:46 p.m. on June 28, 2025, following reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of West Rose Street, according to a press release from the City of Springfield. Upon arrival, officers discovered a chaotic and tragic scene with multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, including some with life-threatening injuries.
Keantra Mays was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Family and friends describe her as a vibrant, loving individual whose presence brought light to those around her. Her untimely death has left the community devastated.
In total, at least five people were shot during the incident.
