
POMONA, Calif. — June 29, 2025 — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday evening in Pomona, leaving one suspect hospitalized, according to the Pomona Police Department.
The incident took place around 6:10 p.m. in the 500 block of East Holt Avenue near Paloma Drive, where officers responded to an undisclosed emergency call. During the encounter, a Pomona police officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department transported the injured individual to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where the suspect’s condition remains unknown as of Saturday morning.
A replica firearm was recovered at the scene, police said, though it remains unclear whether the object was used in a threatening manner or contributed directly to the officer’s decision to open fire.
Investigation Underway
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office have taken over the investigation, in accordance with standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.
