PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Toni-Lynn Marie Trabb, a 58-year-old resident of Port St. Lucie, was found deceased on March 24, 2025, in a room at the Best Western hotel located in the 7900 block of South U.S. 1. Hotel cleaning staff discovered her unresponsive around 11:05 a.m., and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office has classified her death as a homicide.
Trabb’s father, Anthony Borello, 81, remembered his daughter as a smart and special woman who enjoyed cooking, was fluent in Spanish, loved going to the beach, and was passionate about working out.
Authorities have identified Carlos Tito Caban, a 51-year-old registered sex offender from Fort Pierce, as a suspect in the case. Caban was apprehended in Tifton, Georgia, while driving Trabb’s white Toyota Corolla. At the time of his arrest, he was accompanied by another woman he had met in Orlando and who had agreed to travel with him to New York. Caban currently faces charges related to sex offender violations for failing to register properly.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Trabb’s death. Sheriff Richard R. Del Toro Jr. emphasized the agency’s commitment to bringing those responsible to justice and providing support to the victim’s family.
Trabb’s passing is a profound loss to her family and the Port St. Lucie community. Her father highlighted her willingness to help others and her intellectual abilities, noting that she was “very, very smart” and always ready to assist anyone in need.
