JACKSONVILLE, IL — A devastating two-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon has claimed the lives of two individuals, reportedly Pittsfield High School students. The accident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Woodson Winchester Road, just west of Woodson.

While authorities have not released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families, the Morgan County community is already reeling from the tragedy. This comes just months after another heartbreaking event left the community in mourning.

In a statement, local officials and community members expressed their deepest condolences to the families affected by the loss, offering prayers and support to the grieving families, friends, faculty, and first responders involved. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and those injured, as well as everyone who witnessed the crash or offered assistance,” said a local representative.

The accident is under investigation by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police. As of now, further details are still pending, but the community continues to unite in the wake of this horrific loss.
